The Cutting Process
1.Sorting
First of all the rough is sorted by size and quality.

2.Marking
The material is marked according to how it is to be sawed.

3.Sawing
The stones are then cut according to the marking, and they are then orientated by color.

4.Preforming
The stones are then preformed - cut slightly larger than the final shape.

5.Dopping
The stones are next set in wax and placed on a dop stick.

6.Shaping
The stones are then roughly cut into shape.

7.Faceting
Following this, the stones' facets are cut.

8.Polishing
The stones are polished using tin oxide powder (in the photograph, shown held in the left hand).

9.Quality Control
After the cutting and polishing they are checked for facet alignment and removed from the dop stick for the final quality check.
